Definition:- Hand tools are fairly simple tools which we use with our hands and simplify our works or A tool is any instrument or simple piece of equipment that you hold in your hands and use to do a particular kind of work. For example, spades, hammers, and knives are all tools.

{ Note: Trade Hand Tools are combined with Allied Trade Tools Click Here for document with photos }

There are different types of tools:

1.      Trade hand tools: Those tools are used in Electrician trade for purpose of wiring installations, motor installations, repairs work etc. e.g- combination plier, screw driver, neon tester etc

2.      Fitting tools: Those tools are used in fiiting work(mechanical trade)  i.e known as fitting tool. E.g- file, hammer, cold chisel and bench vice.

3.      Measuring & marking tool: These are the tools used for marking out and measuring that you need to know about: rules, punches etc. e.g-steel rule, punches, calipers, gauge and try square.

4.      Machinery tool: machinery tool is a machine for handling or machining metal or other rigid materials, usually by cutting, boring, grinding or other forms of deformation. e.g- Electric drill machine, grinding machine, power saws etc.

5.      Carpenter tools: Those tools are used in wood work for preparation of electric board, wooden joints etc. e.g- mallet, hammer, hand saw, G clamp, planes etc.

6.      Sheet metal tools: Tools used in Sheet metal Workshop are based on Marking, Cutting, Striking and Supporting tools .e.g- types of snips, solid cold punch etc.

Allied trade: A technician knows about specialization with other trade & those tools used for allied trade is known as allied trade tools. Example: fitting, measuring and marking, carpenter, sheet metal etc.
